A few days ago someone asked me what I thought forgiveness is.
I simply replied, “It is a practice. It is a choice.”
A Course In Miracles would say, “Forgiveness is acquired. It is not inherent in the mind.”
You know why?
Because forgiveness is a required skill we must learn in order to be able to happily function in this 3-D world we live in. When we forgive we are free to be whom God created us to be - loving.
It isn’t love that has sinned (missed the mark), it is our perception that has. Our perception, at first glance, is ruled by the domain of the ego. And the ego’s prime-directive is to have us seek love but never find it.
That is why we feel a need to keep a list of the “he said, and did’” or “she said, and did” stored in our beautiful brains - you know, just in case we need to justify why we are not being forgiving.
May you choose to no longer dwell in the house of the ego’s suffering and choose to lay down your list of wrongs, and come home to the house of love.
I invite you today to ask yourself, What would love do? Would it choose to feel joyful and happy or hang out in the realm of pain and suffering feeling sad?
Forgiveness is the key to happiness.
- ACIM Lesson #121
Close your eyes, take a few deep breaths, and see that which you have, held in escrow, your list of grievances.
Then, choose one grievance to see light shine forth, however faint it may be and say, "fill in this in with the persons name or the situation I see the light in you."
Remember dear one, you have the most powerful force on your side - God.
God is love.
God is light.
May you dwell in the mind of love always.
