Dear Hailey,
I have a friend I always seem to be caring for and it is beginning to feel tiresome and old. I feel like I am giving, giving, giving all the time. What should I do?
Signed, Caregiving Blues
Dear Caregiving Blues,
Caregiving is an act of service and when in service we should be feeling we are experiencing an exchange that gives rise to joy, love and growth. If you find yourself feeling tired and worn out the “giving” energy is not that of a mutual exchange. Examine your acts of caring. Are you sharing and growing, giving and receiving? If not, take responsibility for your consent to only give rather than share and grow. Restructure your relationship based on the principle of being in service.
Many Blessings, Hailey
